Events for Children in Care

All events are free and will take place at Danbury Outdoor Centre, Well Lane, Danbury, CM3 4AB

Under 8's activity morning

This event is for all children under 8 who have contact with Essex Social Care. They should attend with a parent, carer or support worker. Children remain the responsibility of their parent, carer or support worker at all times.

The under 8's activity morning will take place on Wednesday 14 August between 10am and 1pm.

Activities include woodland adventures, games and forest school.

Lunch is included for everyone at the event.

8 to 13 year old activity evening

This event is for children in care aged 8 to 13 years old.

The 8 to 13 year old activity evening will take place on Wednesday 14 August between 4pm and 7pm.

Activities may include:

  • obstacle course
  • aerial trekking
  • mountain biking
  • active sports
  • arts and crafts

Wonka will be showing at the outdoor cinema directly after this event. You can choose it as an extra when booking.

13 to 17 year old activity day

This event is for children in care aged 13 to 17 years old.

The 13 to 17 year old activity day will be taking place on Monday 12 August between 10am and 3pm. Children should arrive at 9:30am.

Activities may include:

  • obstacle course
  • aerial trekking
  • mountain biking
  • active sports
  • arts and crafts

Young people in alternative placements evening

This event is for children and young people of all ages who are currently in care in alternative placements.

The young people in alternative placements evening will take place on Tuesday 14 August. You can choose one three time slots when booking:

  • 6pm to 7pm
  • 7pm to 8pm
  • 8pm to 9pm

The main activity for this event will be aerial trekking.

Outdoor cinema

This event is for all children, young people and families who receive a service from adult social care. Children remain their parent's responsibility at all times.

The outdoor cinema will be taking place at 7pm on:

  •  Wednesday 14 August, showing Wonka
  •  Thursday 15 August, showing Sing 2

There will be pre-film entertainment before the film starts at sunset. We recommend bringing a chair or blanket to sit on whilst you watch the film. 

Food can be purchased on site. All children and young people who receive a service from social care will be given food tokens.
