Locality Fund

Schemes funded 2023 to 2024

Between May 2023 and February 2024 all Essex County Councillors were again invited to nominate schemes or projects to benefit the division they represent. This year, up to £5,000 was available for each Councillor. See details of the schemes in our Locality Fund Report 2023 to 2024 (XLS, 42.45KB).

Schemes funded 2022 to 2023

Between May 2022 and February 2023 all Essex County Councillors were again invited to nominate schemes or projects to benefit the division they represent. This year, up to £5,000 was available for each Councillor. See details of the schemes in our Locality Fund Report 2022 to 2023 (XLS, 48.41 KB).

Where possible, existing schemes which it had not been possible to complete during the 2021 to 2022 financial year were extended into the 2022 to 2023 financial year. Details of this are published with the 2022 to 2023 Locality Fund report. Any Locality Fund underspend from the 2021 to 2022 financial year was carried forward for each individual division and, where possible, allocated during 2022 to 2023.

Schemes funded 2021 to 2022

Between May 2021 and February 2022 all Essex County Councillors were again invited to nominate schemes or projects to benefit the division they represent. See details of the schemes in our Locality Fund Report 2021 to 2022 (XLS, 38.13kB).

Some councillors nominated schemes which were not able to be completed within the financial year. Where possible, these schemes were extended into the 2022 2023 financial year and details will be published with the 2022 2023 Locality Fund report.

Schemes funded 2020 to 2021

Between April 2020 and January 2021 all Essex County Councillors were invited to nominate schemes or projects to benefit the division they represent. Up to £10,000 was available for each councillor. Councillors worked with community organisations and council services to deliver a range of schemes. See details of the schemes in our Locality Fund Report 2020 to 2021 (XLSX, 59.50kB).

Some councillors nominated schemes which were not able to be completed within the financial year, mainly because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Where possible, members reallocated the funding to other projects.

Local Community Fund

The Local Community Fund operates as twelve separate funds, each covering the area of a district council. For the period 2023-24 the fund allocated for each district was £4,000 per County Councillor in that district. Between May 2023 and February 2024 Essex County Councillors were invited to nominate schemes or projects with their district colleagues to the Fund. A requirement of the fund was that monies had to be spent on projects or purchases against one of three themes:

  • Youth Provision 
  • Levelling Up the Community 
  • Climate Action

Local Levelling Up Fund

The Local Levelling Up Fund operated as twelve separate funds, each covering the area of a district council. For the period 2022 to 2023 the fund allocated for each district was £5,000 per County Councillor in that district. Between May 2022 and January 2023 Essex County Councillors were invited to nominate schemes or projects with their district colleagues to the Fund. A requirement of the fund was that monies had to be spent on projects or purchases which would benefit one of the Levelling Up Cohorts:

  • people with SEND, learning disabilities or mental health conditions (children and adults)
  • children on free school meals
  • working families on low incomes
  • young adults (16-25) who have not been in education, training or employment for more than six months
