Community Rail Partnership
We’re part of the Essex and South Suffolk Rail Partnership (ESSCRP). The partnership encourages rail travel on the five branch lines in Essex.
ESSCRP was formed in 1998, with aim of promoting the six branch lines within Essex. It sits under a larger umbrella of the Community Rail Network. It is fully supported by the Department for Transport, who see community rail as a vital link between the railway and the local community. Community Rail is a growing grassroots movement, which connects people with their local railways and stations. It also delivers social, environmental and economic benefits.
ESSCRP has a yearly activity plan, promoting the branch lines. This includes:
- producing publicity material
- promoting the lines on social media
- organising special event trains
- improving the infrastructure at the stations, such as providing defibrillators
The ESSCRP is funded by:
- Greater Anglia
- Essex County Council
- Suffolk County Council
- Tendring District Council
- Colchester Borough Council
- Braintree District Council
