Request energy advice and funding

Contact Better Housing, Better Health for energy advice that is specific to your property and situation. They can support you to switch energy suppliers, sign up to the priority services register and access funding. This includes assessing your eligibility for the Energy Company Obligation scheme.

Switch Together Essex

Switching to an air-source heat pump can keep your home warm, while reducing your carbon footprint.

We have partnered with Switch Together Essex to help you find quality heat pump installations at a competitive price. They operate a group buying model.By grouping people together they can invite vetted installers to bid on offering the most competitive price to Essex residents. Switch Together Essex only works with experienced, trustworthy and high-quality installers. There is no obligation to buy after you have received your quote.

In addition to this, the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers a £7,500 grant for a new heat pump. Recent changes mean more people qualify. Heat pump installations are also currently VAT exempt, adding even more savings.

How does Switch Together Essex work?

  1. you register for free online by 1 November 2024
  2. vetted installers will compete by bidding their best price
  3. you will be emailed a Personal Offer, detailing costs and specifications of a full heat pump system
  4. if you decide to proceed, the installer will schedule a survey and complete the full installation

Essex Energy Switch

The Essex Energy Switch is a scheme to help residents get a better deal on their gas and electricity. It is free to register and there is no obligation to switch.   

Register online or call 0800 048 8439 to register and receive correspondence by post. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5.30pm. You will need a recent energy bill to to sign up.

Get advice from Warm Homes Essex

You could get help from a specialist energy advisor if you are finding it hard to pay energy bills or have debts with energy suppliers. They might be able to help you get a grant to improve your home's energy efficiency.

Solar Together Essex

Solar Together Essex is a group-buying scheme that enables Essex residents and businesses to install solar panels at an affordable price. The scheme provides a straightforward and safe way for you to generate your own energy and save money on future energy bills.

Energy efficient improvements for low income households

The Home Upgrade Grant offers free energy saving improvements to homes that do not have gas heating. To be eligible you must be living in an energy inefficient home that does not use gas heating and meet one of the below income requirements:

  • have a household income below £36,000
  • live in a pre-qualified postcode area where income verification is not required

Oil central heating systems

Even if you're not connected to the mains gas supply, you can still save money on heating oil by joining the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) community oil buying scheme.

The Jaywick and District Energy Hub

The Energy Hub is here to help citizens of Jaywick Sands and surrounding areas get support for a range of services relating to energy including: 

  • Applications for government grants to improve the energy efficiency of their home, including the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4Flex), the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2) and the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS).   
  • Improving an owned or rented property’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) 
  • Home energy visits 
  • Benefit checks  
  • Food and fuel vouchers 
  • Energy advice 
  • Reducing bills 

The Hub aims to help residents save energy and money on their energy bills. 

The Energy Hub is operated in partnership with Tendring District Council and Citizens Advice Tendring.
