We have partnered with the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) and hundo to launch a new employment platform. It allows students, parents and teachers to access career information and industry trends.
The pilot will help students explore employment opportunities within the NHS. Key issues the NHS have when recruiting are:
- there are many different types of jobs available in the NHS, but this is not understood by students
- there are large and increasing skills shortages across many industry sectors
- technology has changed the way that they do and the platform will help educators keep up to date
The pilot will focus on two main job areas, health and care and digital jobs. The platform is live and available to students at South Essex College and USP College.
The platform includes:
- avatar based profiles with active, customisable skills badges
- a dynamic cv builder
- employer-led learning
- provide credentials to learners to prove engagement and augment CVs
- mentor videos
- videos from MSEFT employees
Last year we partnered with MSEFT to create pilot projects in the health and care sector. This is one of three projects being support by £610,000.
Councillor Tony Ball, Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning, and Employability, said:
This is another exciting programme we are working on to help our residents in their career journeys.
We are committed to working with partners to create an all-age career education service and this partnership with hundo and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is one of the ways we are trying to achieve this.
We are working to provide knowledge about industries and skills to foster aspirations, support choices of qualifications and training and inform adult upskilling and career changes into growth sectors.
