We set out five goals in Everyone’s Essex to improve the local economy. They are:
· invest in infrastructure
· support eco-friendly business
· enable business growth
· level up the economy
· provide funding streams
The Sunspot business centre in Jaywick Sands is just one example of what has been achieved.
The energy-efficient business has used £5.3 million in funding to create 24 affordable workspaces on Jaywick’s seafront.
The workspaces can be used for a variety of business needs. For example, studios, workshops, offices and retail outlets.
Sunspot is contributing to local growth by enabling businesses to develop. It means companies big and small can set up shop in Jaywick.
It also provides a range of community facilities. For example, market spaces, public toilets, cycle parking and a community garden.
Councillor Lee Scott, Cabinet Member for Planning a Growing Economy, said: “This space will support the local economy and help businesses develop. It also compliments the cycle link upgrade to Clacton and will encourage greater use in this beautiful area.
“We have taken the opportunity to improve facilities for local residents, including a pavement and bus shelter. This project is therefore helping both residents and businesses.”
You can now read our new Everyone’s Essex pledge refreshed for 2024/25. It details five key priorities, which includes financial competence.
We promise to continue sensible and careful money management so we can continue to invest in our extraordinary county.
