We have maintained our strong rating for delivering active travel across Essex.
Active Travel England has confirmed we continue to have a capability rating of two. This represents ‘visible local leadership and support with an emerging network’.
The rating reflects our commitment to sustainable infrastructure and policies which encourage cycling and walking.
It also signifies strong local leadership, clear plans with some active travel elements in place. This includes the Healthy School Streets programme on Sawyers Hall Lane in Brentwood and a two-way cycling facility on Head Street in Colchester.
We also recently consulted on a new draft cycling strategy for Essex.
