We have appointed Atkins to help deliver a £100 million programme of economic renewal in Essex.
The infrastructure design and project management firm will work on projects within the Essex Renewal Fund.
Over the next 20 years, the fund aims to invest over £100 million, supporting 1,500 jobs and bringing to market enough land to deliver 1,000 new homes.
Atkins will complement our in-house economic development expertise, providing additional capacity and specialist capabilities.
Cllr Lesley Wagland OBE, Cabinet Member for Economic Renewal, Infrastructure and Planning at Essex County Council, said: “We are delighted to have Atkins on board to assist ECC in the delivery of the Essex Renewal Fund.
“This is another step forward in the delivery of the Essex Renewal Fund and will be momentous in its support to the county both for now, and the future.
“The Fund will be crucial in targeting key areas of improvement, including providing employment opportunities, investment into local business and the high street, and boosting the quality of life for residents. I look forward to this new partnership between ECC and Atkins.”
Stephanie Cesbron, head of advisory and economics at Atkins, said: “Essex County Council is aiming to deliver a vitally important renewal plan, and we’re looking forward to starting this new relationship to support that delivery.
“Our role will be to provide advice and economic insight into how investment in Essex’s economic infrastructure and assets can support local objectives. It’s certainly an exciting time to be working with Essex County Council.”
