Kinship Post-Order Support

Our Kinship Post-Order Support Team is here to support, advise and empower you throughout your kinship journey. The team consists of:

  • a team manager
  • social workers
  • a mental health coordinator
  • child and family support workers
  • permanency support coordinators

To access this service all parties must individually give consent. 

Our duty coordinator will contact you as soon as we have been informed that a permanence order is in place.

You can contact our duty desk for information, advice and guidance with:

If we can't help you with something, we will try to signpost you to somewhere that can. We can also provide copies of court orders and help you to fill out forms (such as wills and passports).

Financial support

We may be able to offer financial support if the child has additional care needs needs.

Workshops

Our recommended Workshops for special guardians include:

  • Nurturing Attachments (highly recommended)
  • Teenager – What ever
  • The importance of Life Story work
  • Supporting Special Guardians to Safeguard their children
  • Self care
  • Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)
  • Family Time
  • Individual Counselling

Therapeutic intervention

Therapeutic intervention could include:

  • psychotherapy for the child
  • specialist assessments
  • creative therapy involving the parent and the child
  • creative or physical therapies involving the child only
  • therapeutic parenting
  • family therapy
  • therapeutic life story work
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

You will need to complete and assessment of need to be considered for these services. An application to the Adoption Special Guardian Support Fund (ASGSF) can also be made if needed.

Our team can attend meetings and support guardians during other social work interventions such as:

  • Virtual School
  • SEND Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)
  • Team Around the Family
  • One Plan Reviews
  • Health Reviews

We can also offer advice to schools impact of trauma on attachment and behaviour.
