What parent and child fostering is
Parent and child fostering involves caring for a young parent, with their child, in your home. This helps social work teams see how capable a parent is and how they need help.
Parent and child fostering usually suit people who:
- have experience fostering
- have childcare skills and the ability to work and communicate with young people
- want to support a young parent and show them how best to care for their child
You receive £550 per week if you provide parent and child fostering, plus an allowance for the parent and an allowance for the child.
Join the emergency bed and PACE scheme
As an approved foster carer, you can join the rota for the Emergency Bed and PACE Scheme. This is where you provide care for a child or young person out of hours, supporting them in an emergency or to prevent them remaining in police custody.
- £250 per week duty payment plus allowance and fee (when a child is placed) for being on the PACE Bed Scheme rota
- £350 per week duty payment, plus allowance and fee (when a child is placed) for being on the Emergency Bed Scheme rota
