A Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) can help to pay for major adaptations to your home if you're disabled or have a long-term health condition. You will need to have an occupational therapy assessment before you can apply for a DFG. Contact Adult Social Care to discuss whether you need an occupational therapy assessment.
If you're eligible, you could get a grant for home adaptations of up to £30,000 from your local council. The amount you get depends on your financial situation and your assessed need. You may need to pay towards the cost. You will not need to pay anything if you are:
- applying on behalf of someone aged 16 to 19 years old who is in full time education
- in receipt of income-related benefits
