These are the steps to follow if you wish to apply for a Blue Badge. You can apply for yourself, someone else or an organisation.
Step 1 - Check eligibility
Check to see if you are, or may be eligible
Step 2 - Gather documents
Make sure you have all the necessary supporting documents, as this may delay your application.
Step 3 - Register
You'll first need to register for a self-service account with us online. If you are applying on behalf of someone else, you need to create the account in your name:

Once you've registered, you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to activate your account.
Step 4 - Login
Once you've activated it, you'll receive another email with a link to login to your account.
To login to your account:

Once logged in go to Online Forms, then choose Blue Badge-Apply.
Step 5 - Complete your application
You are now ready to complete your application. Once you're logged in, you can use your online account to:
- start an application
- save your application at any point
- upload documents
- track the progress of your application
- make a payment
If you are applying on behalf of someone else, you need to answer the questions about the applicant. You also need to give your contact information, plus the applicant's contact information. This is so we can check with the applicant that you are authorised to act on their behalf.

How to access your saved application
To resume completing your application:
- log-in to your online account
- select ‘My Tasks’
- a pop-up box will appear asking if you wish to leave the site (the page you are currently on), select ‘Leave’
- you will be presented with a list of your saved applications, select ‘Continue’ for the case you wish to proceed with. The screen will then scroll through the application, stopping at the page you can continue from
What happens next
When you submit your application online, you will get a confirmation email to let you know the application has been submitted successfully.
We'll normally be in touch within 6 weeks of you applying. It can take up to 12 weeks to fully process your application. This is because we may need you to attend a mobility assessment or require further evidence from you.
If we've requested further or new evidence, you can upload this to your application by logging in to your account.
You can also track the progress of your application at any time.
Beware of scams
It's free to apply for a Blue Badge. There's a £10 fee to cover the cost of producing a badge if you're successful.
Please be aware of Blue Badge scams where you may be charged more than £10 for an application. These websites are not associated with the Blue Badge service and the application form supplied by these websites is not accepted by local authorities.
