Supported lodgings

Supported lodgings are a great alternative to fostering but equally as rewarding. You are guiding young people (aged 16+) who have experienced trauma, towards independence.

  • have left foster care
  • experienced a family breakdown
  • be an unaccompanied child seeking asylum

You can continue to work full time in a flexible job, while also supporting young people with:

  • managing finances
  • attending appointments
  • learning how to cook and do housework
  • entering education, training or work

Fees and allowances for supported lodgings carers

As a supported lodgings carer, you will receive payment of £270 per week per young person

On top of this, each young person receives a personal allowance of £87.20 per week. They should use their allowance to buy their own food and clothing. This amount can change depending on their needs.
