Overview

Fostering is an incredibly inclusive role with different types of foster care available. Fostering is flexible, you can foster from one weekend a month.

Even the smallest amount of time can make the biggest difference to a child’s life. If you’re still unsure on which type of fostering suits you, our enquiry team can help.

Mainstream fostering provides care and stability for a child (0 to 18 years-old). Full-time and part-time fostering options are available:

  • short-term fostering
  • long-term fostering
  • respite fostering

Fostering a child with disabilities makes a real difference. There are three main types of care for children with disabilities:

  • short-term and long-term fostering
  • short breaks
  • fee-paid short breaks

Supported lodgings are a great alternative to fostering but equally as rewarding. You are guiding young people (aged 16+) who has experienced trauma, towards independence.

Specialist foster care schemes are available for experienced carers. These include emergency bed and PACE bed schemes, and parent and child fostering.
