Welcome to the June’s EssexWorks. I was delighted to see the high standard of photos sent in for our front page competition. Congratulations to the winner and the runners-up – some of whom are featured on pages 16 and 17.
I really enjoyed judging the competition, and not only was it good to see that Essex clearly has some very talented photographers it was also very enjoyable to see such stunning images of our beautiful county. Thanks to everyone who took the time to send us their photos.
One of Essex County Council’s key pledges is to deliver a year of culture that will put Essex firmly on the cultural map and help to bring thousands of new jobs and increased investment into our county over the next few years. Essex has much to celebrate and promote culturally in the coming year, and you can read more about our Year of Culture on page 11. July will see the start of the Jiangsu Cultural festival, a key part of our Essex ‘Year of Culture’, and on pages 12-13 you can read more about this unique exchange and how you can get involved or find an event near you.
